Iron & Steel

Iron & Steel

Vietnam both exports and imports steel. It sounds contradictory, yet it makes perfect sense. We do well with ordinary construction steel, but high-grade types such as hot-rolled coil, alloy steel and high-quality stainless steel are beyond what domestic capacity can supply. So in 2025, iron and steel remained a large import group worth around USD 9.9 billion, even after falling more than 13% from the year before.

Behind that figure is the real demand of the whole economy. Hot-rolled coil is the input for galvanized sheet, steel pipe, equipment housings and vehicle frames. Specialty steel is indispensable for precision engineering, shipbuilding and component manufacturing. A major project or a manufacturing plant stands or falls on the quality of its input steel.

The trouble for steel importers is that this is a capital-heavy commodity, prone to price swings, and one whose quality must be tightly verified. Buying a batch with the wrong grade or standard can leave all the products made from it out of spec, causing losses down the whole line. World steel prices, meanwhile, rise and fall constantly, and closing a deal at the wrong moment means money lost for nothing.

Meoketing helps you pass through those risks more safely. The platform connects you with steel suppliers who have transparent records, lets you compare multiple quotes at once and track price movements to close at the right time. Quality inspection, shipping and customs are supported end to end. You need the right steel for your project or plant, and Meoketing handles finding the source and bringing the goods to your door.
